On Saturday 28th June, a crew of four from CCCBC competed at Reading Town Regatta. Having borrowed the apropriately named ‘Olivia’ (obviously a tribute to the bow-girl Olivia Elder) from Reading RC, thanks to coach David Locke and his seemingly infinite rowing-world connections, the four rowed up to the regatta site to compete against Bryanston School.
Despite the novelty of rowing (and coxing) in a bow-loader, the four, composed of Alice Lattey (Stroke), Clare Franklin (3), Cora Salkovskis (2) and Olivia Elder (Bow) and Zack Hall (Cox), sped to victory over their opponents and finished the day with a set of pots to take home and furnish their living rooms.
Particularly pleasing for the girls was the fact that, for half the boat, this was to be their last race for Corpus. Clare and Olivia will unfortunately be leaving us this year, but are going out on a high, with rather shiny trophies under their belts.
